About Our Sixth Form

At St Cuthbert Mayne, you'll find a friendly, welcoming community where you are known as an individual, supported in your learning and encouraged to achieve your ambitions. Whether you are continuing with us or joining from another school, we want you to feel at home from the moment you arrive.

We offer a range of A Level and vocational courses, giving you the flexibility to choose subjects that reflect your interests, strengths and future ambitions. Our experienced teachers will help you make informed choices, challenge yourself academically and develop the skills you need for your next steps.

One of the things that makes our Sixth Form special is the individual support we offer. Our Sixth Form team and subject teachers take the time to get to know you, understand your ambitions and help you achieve your potential.

You will enjoy greater independence and responsibility for your learning, while benefiting from regular guidance, academic support and pastoral care. We believe that feeling happy, confident and supported is just as important as achieving excellent results.

Alongside your studies, you will have opportunities to get involved in leadership, mentoring, volunteering, enrichment activities and the wider school community. Our dedicated Sixth Form spaces also provide somewhere to study independently, work with friends and enjoy the social side of Sixth Form life.

We welcome applications from students at St Cuthbert Mayne and new students from other schools, and encourage you to visit, explore our facilities, meet our teachers and speak to our students. Our Sixth Form welcomes both current students and external applicants. Entry is based on meeting the general Sixth Form requirements and any subject-specific criteria for chosen courses. With a broad range of pathways, students are supported to achieve their ambitions and prepare for their next steps.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Sixth Form community!

“Sixth-form students describe the sixth form provision as a ‘family-style setting’ where each student is valued. They are positive about the education, opportunities and guidance they receive, which enables them to move on to appropriate next steps.” Ofsted 2025
