SEND

We are proud to provide an inclusive, innovative and supportive environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our dedicated Learning Support Department works closely with students, families and staff to ensure that all learners can access a broad and balanced curriculum, whatever their individual needs.

Strategies

We currently work with a range of Special Educational Needs and have appropriate strategies in place according to the needs of the students. Our experienced team of Learning Mentors offer personalised support in the classroom, smaller learning groups or one-to-one interventions. We support students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, helping them to grow in confidence both academically and personally.

Students experiencing difficulty completing Home Learning are able to access support in the Home Learning Club based in the library.

Social Hub

Our welcoming Social Hub provides students with a calm space for extra support, home learning or simply time to talk through any worries. Through flexible and innovative approaches, we work hard to remove barriers to learning and ensure that every student feels supported, included and valued.

Support

The Learning Support Department provides a range of personalised support, tailored to the individual needs of each student. This may include developing positive learning behaviours, building independence and essential life skills, strengthening social and communication skills, or providing additional resources and technology to help students access the curriculum.

We also support students with physical disabilities, medical conditions or health needs, whether these are long-term or temporary. Where appropriate, we work closely with families, teaching staff and external professionals, including health services, to ensure students can continue to access a full and inclusive education. We recognise that every student is different, which is why our approach to Special Educational Needs and disabilities is flexible, responsive and innovative. Our aim is to remove barriers to learning, build confidence and independence, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive at St Cuthbert Mayne.
