  • What to Study

Choosing what to study at Sixth Form is an important decision. It's worth taking some time to think about your interests, strengths and future plans. Here are a few questions to help you make the right choices.

    Do I enjoy this subject?

You're more likely to stay motivated and succeed in subjects you genuinely enjoy. Think about what interests you, what you look forward to learning and which subjects you would like to explore further.

Am I good at this subject?

Consider your strengths and how well you've performed in the subject so far. You'll also need to make sure you're on track to meet the course entry requirements.

Do I know enough about the course?

Take time to explore the course content and how you'll be assessed. Our subject information and Curriculum  information will give you a clearer idea of what to expect. You can also speak to subject teachers or visit the relevant exam board website.

Do I need this subject to fulfil my career plans?

If you have a particular career or university course in mind, it's worth checking whether specific subjects are required. Our Career Pathways section of the Course Guide can help you explore different routes and identify the subjects that could support your ambitions.

What grades do I need to study this course?

Each course has its own entry requirements, so make sure you check these before applying.

For most subjects, you'll need at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths. Uniformed Protective Services has different entry requirements.

You can find the full entry requirements for each subject here.
