In Year 7 students will be introduced to a range of mediums, processes and techniques that they may not have used before. Students are shown how to analyse the work of others and respond to the work of artists.
Year 8 builds on this experience, and students undertake 3 main projects throughout the year; Sweets, Graffiti and Architecture. In each project they are introduced to an artists and respond to the work creating a range of interesting outcomes.
Year 9 students launch their final KS3 year by looking at the work and life of Van Gogh which leads into a range of mark making outcomes. Students also look at more contemporary craftspeople such as Tim Burton and produce a clay character in response to his stop-motion animation Corpse Bride. The final area of study is perspective, where students learn how to draw using one-point and two-point perspective techniques.
Supported in their decision to continue Art at examination level, students will follow the Fine Art course offered by AQA.

Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. Recording of ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions is a major focus, allowing students to reflect critically on their work and progress in order to successfully present a personal and meaningful response. Educational visits enhance the sixth form syllabus.
All sixth form students are expected to continue work during private study periods, lunchtime and/or after school.
Equipment can be lent to students if considered necessary for personal progression.
